The short answer
Audience analysis is working out who your audience is, what they watch and when they are online, from the data you already have. Start with each platform’s own analytics: YouTube’s Audience tab shows what your viewers watch and when they are on YouTube, Instagram shows demographics once you pass 100 followers, and Google Analytics adds age and interests when Google signals is on. Then write down one audience and post for them.

Run one in an afternoon
- 01
Pull the platform data
Open YouTube Studio’s Audience tab, Instagram Insights and TikTok Analytics. Note age, location, active hours and what else your viewers watch.
- 02
Add your website
Google Analytics 4 shows country, city and language by default; age, gender and interests appear once Google signals is on, with thresholds that can hide small numbers.
- 03
Find the overlap
Look for the same age band, place and interests across sources. That overlap is your core audience.
- 04
Write it in one sentence
Who they are, what they struggle with, and when they scroll. Every post should speak to that one person.
- 05
Check it monthly
Audiences drift as you grow. Re-read the same reports each month and adjust the sentence.
