The short answer

LinkedIn’s best times cluster on Tuesday to Thursday afternoons: Tuesday at 4 p.m., Wednesday at 3 p.m. and Thursday at 2 p.m. are each named by two of the three studies that publish local times. Sprout Social puts Tuesday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. first, Buffer names Wednesday at 4 p.m., and Hootsuite stands apart with early mornings.

Where 2 of 3 studies agree on LinkedIn

  • Tuesday 4 p.m.–5 p.m.
  • Wednesday 3 p.m.–4 p.m.
  • Thursday 2 p.m.–3 p.m.
  • Sunday 6 a.m.–7 a.m.

Each cell counts how many of the three local-time studies name that hour. SocialPilot publishes Eastern Time, so it is listed below but not counted in the grid.

Use it on your account

  1. 01

    Start midweek, mid-afternoon

Tuesday to Thursday between 2 and 4 p.m. in your audience’s time zone.

  2. 02

    Match your buyers’ workday

LinkedIn is read at work. If your buyers are in another time zone, post on theirs.

  3. 03

Hold the times for four weeks

Then compare impressions and comments per slot in LinkedIn analytics.

  4. 04

    Try one early slot

Hootsuite’s early-morning finding is worth one test if your audience starts work early.

Your questions, answered

Short answers to what people ask next.

Tuesday to Thursday afternoons: Tuesday at 4 p.m., Wednesday at 3 p.m. and Thursday at 2 p.m. are each named by two of the three local-time studies, in your audience’s local time.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Sprout Social and SocialPilot both name those three days; Buffer’s strongest slot is Wednesday.

The studies mostly favour weekdays. Sprout Social names no weekend hours; Buffer and Hootsuite each list a few Sunday hours, so a weekend slot is worth one test.

Your audience’s. Three of the four studies give local times; SocialPilot gives Eastern Time, so shift its hours if your audience is elsewhere.
