The short answer
There are four main ways to make money on TikTok: The Creator Rewards Program, which pays for qualified views on videos of a minute or longer once you have 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in 30 days; selling through TikTok Shop where it is available; paid brand deals, which must use TikTok’s commercial content disclosure; and bringing customers to your own business.

Start earning, step by step
- 01
Pick the way that fits
Creators chase Creator Rewards and brand deals; businesses get the most from bringing buyers to their own product.
- 02
Post originals, a minute or longer
Only original videos of at least one minute earn Creator Rewards, and TikTok’s own growth advice is to create content longer than a minute.
- 03
Grow to the thresholds
Hook in the first 3 seconds, hold viewers to the end and post regularly; TikTok says watch time is a key driver.
- 04
Disclose every paid post
Turn on the commercial content disclosure for anything a brand paid for or gifted.
- 05
Point viewers somewhere
A link in your profile, a shop or a clear next step, so views turn into customers.
The ways, and what each needs
Creator Rewards Program
At least 10,000 followers, 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, videos at least one minute long, age 18 or over, a personal account. Pays on qualified views.
What a qualified view is
A unique For You feed view watched for at least 5 seconds, excluding fraud, paid, promoted, disliked and artificial views. A video needs 1,000 For You views before it earns.
TikTok Shop
Sell products through in-feed videos, LIVE and the Showcase tab, in 15 countries including the US, UK and Brazil.
Brand deals
Content made for payment or a free product is branded content: you “must enable the commercial content disclosure toggle”. Brands can run your post as a Spark Ad with your authorisation.
Your own business
For most small brands the biggest money is indirect: customers who find you on TikTok and buy your product or service.
What does not earn
Duets, Stitches and others’ content with slight changes such as speed-ups, filters or stickers do not count as original for Creator Rewards.
